AAHS is an independent, local, non-profit organization working to serve homeless pets of all species but mainly dogs and cats. We provide life-changing services for homeless pets that come to our shelter. Animals arrive in need of medical care, training, foster care, and in need of loving homes. We hope you’ll consider adoption and submit an application to adopt today.
We are currently open by appointment only . Look under our Pre-Adoption Form tab to find our application.
At AAHS, the health of our volunteers, animals and our visitors are our number one priority. We are committed to keeping our volunteers and community safe. At this time, that means we are limiting foot traffic and the potential exposure to COVID 19 as much as possible.
The following restrictions will be put in place: Adoptions by appointment
During this time of great uncertainty, we are still working to fulfill our mission to move our available animals into loving adoptive homes. We kindly ask that the public refrain from visiting the shelter unless you are seriously intend to adopt, a mask is required. If you plan to adopt, you can first view some of our many available pets on our website and complete a pre-adoption application. Once your application is approved, and if you are the first applicant on an available animal, a staff member will contact you via telephone, or email to schedule an appointment to conduct a meet and greet.
This is a very sad time for the animals in our community and beyond as we anticipate a significant reduction in both donations and adoptions as our shelter attempts to navigate through this difficult time while minimizing the spread of illness.
AAHS is a No-Kill animal shelter that gives dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens a home until permanent homes can be found. We are located in Moline, Illinois.
