Why a new Shelter fund.

After 26 remarkable years at the current location, Moline Animal Aid’s shelter has persevered through four floods due to the city administrator’s decisions. Despite these challenges, the dedicated volunteers have done an outstanding job ensuring the animals’ safety.

Although the Moline city zoning administrator’s requirements has limited the ability to rebuild and elevate the property, Animal Aid is now poised for a new chapter. The time has come for new opportunities with building for a better environment for the animals and support is welcome in helping to organize a fundraiser to aid in this transition.

Our Animal Shelter in Moline is antiquated and not optimally designed for pets, prompting the acquisition of property in Milan for the development of a new, more pet-friendly shelter. Our Animal Shelter here in Moline has suffered recurring flooding due to severe rainfall, and the floodgate being closed at the dike north of the shelter. We have now prepared to construct a more pet-friendly shelter, providing an enhanced environment for the animals.

Construction will begin shortly; will you participate in this new shelter fundraiser or offer your expertise as a volunteer?

We were unable to build at our existing location, and no other properties were available in Moline, as a result, property was purchased in Milan, situated just across the Moline Rock River bridge, providing a more favorable location for building a pet-friendly animal shelter. Please provide support by making a generous donation at Molineanimalaid.org, selecting ‘My Donation’ from the menu. Donations can also be made by check, addressed to New Shelter in care of Animal Aid Humane Society, 239 50th Street, Moline, IL 61265.
